Eyes Wide Shut

Bless his heart,  Jonathan fell the other day and literally stumbled to me with his eyes closed and tears falling.  I was impressed that he knew my exact location in his exact time of need.  With his radar sense of “Mommy location,” Jonathan can find me in those times when I don’t want to be found.

That’s often how I feel when it comes to God working in my life.  I want to feel commendation and affirmation when I’ve done “all the right things” with the boys.  I don’t particularly want to be reminded that I’m really not “good” and I desperately need a Savior.  It’s a battle that convinces me my pride is enough, and I try to become my own Savior.

It’s in those times, though, when the Holy Spirit works in my heart; when he “finds” me like Jonathan with that radar ability He has, that I grow.  It’s in those times when I remember that it’s His grace that has made and will continue to make the difference.
