I Corinthians 13 starts with a great list of things we can do that are considered “nothing” without love. In the realm of parenting, I’ve added “raise kids who love the Lord” to that list. While there’s nothing wrong with having this as a goal of parenting, there’s also nothing wrong with the list in I Corinthians. Without love, though, “raising kids who love the Lord” is nothing.
Is it even possible to raise kids who love the Lord if I don’t love raising them that way? What about if I’m not loving the Lord myself? My prayer is that God would be give me a heart of love for Him and all He’s done for me followed by a love for my family, including Jeremy and the boys. Then I know my attempts will not amount to “nothing.”
