What made you take that 7th dip in the water? Didn’t you want to stop after 4? You had done more than half of what Elisha said.
Did you feel foolish? Were the servants nearby laughing? Were they scared? You could have just got out and faced the pain and unanswered prayers.
But you didn’t. You held your breath, bent your knees, and submerged your diseased-self in that nasty water…One more time…Number 7.
And that time you came up whole, clean, restored. A miracle. On the 7th time. The time right after I would have climbed out, wiped my face, and declared I was done.
Thank you, Naaman, for obeying.
“So he went down and dipped himself seven times in the Jordan, according to the word of the man of God, and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.” (II Kings 5:14)
*Maybe we are in the “7th dip.” Who knows what God is up to? I can’t see Him working, but I can be sure He is. What He has called us to He will be faithful in.
Whatever looms before you today. Whatever you’ve been waiting for and praying about. Don’t doubt God is working. Don’t mistake the silence for neglect.
7 dips for Naaman. 100 years for Abraham. 3 days in the tomb for Jesus. He’s a God I can trust!
