I hate these pictures…
Who wears that to vacuum? Not me. Turn the air down. Pandora up. Put the pj’s back on. Time to clean!
As I recall, the other day I totally cleaned the house in a Ralph Lauren dress and Toms. True story. We came home from co-op with only a few hours til small group. No time to change. Just enough time to clean.
When I finished I had the thought…maybe these women clean in nice clothes because they didn’t have time to change. What if life is as crazy for them as it is for me?
I then got to thinking about how deceiving outward appearances can be. Kinda like Samuel when he was looking for Israel’s next king. Here’s what God said…
“But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” (I Samuel 16:7)
We’ve become experts at dressing ourselves up. We can cover the ugly pretty well with our makeup, smiles, and casual “I’m fine.” But God sees the real us. All of us. And still loves us. Pours out His grace on us. Calls us His child.
Ralph Lauren. Toms. Tennis shoes with holes. Pj’s from 1999. I’m still loved so stinkin’ big from an amazingly graceful God!
