The container of goldfish flew off the highchair tray into the floor. Little yellow fish scattered everywhere.
“Will you help me?” I asked Stephen as I got on my knees to start picking up. He joined me.
“Why do they do stuff like that?” he asked me innocently. He helps out a lot and knows the mess.
“They’re babies.” I responded picking up another fish. “Always sanctifying.”
I glanced at him as the Holy Spirit began speaking to both of us on our knees under that kitchen table.
“In every moment God is sanctifying us. He’s making us more like Himself. He’s teaching us. Changing us. Always sanctifying.”
It was unscripted. But my ears needed to hear it.
What if I saw every moment as purposeful? What if I saw it as part of His plan not my own? What if this is really His story and I’m just a small part? What if every moment I realized that He was chipping away at my flesh and making me more holy?
Oh the perceived inconveniences. He’s not surprised. He’s sanctifying. And with Cross Love and Resurrection Power He makes no mistakes.
“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tried me, I shall come out as gold.” (Job 23:10)
