DR Day 2!

It’s 8:36, and we’re back in the room after a busy day. I’m counting on an early night to bed!

This morning we did “cultural immersion.” We learned about Dominican customs then literally immersed ourselves in the culture. We took a public bus, paid in pesos, and visited homes looking for certain kitchen utensils.

Afterwards part of our team stayed and worked at the local church. The rest of us headed to a local hotel to spend the afternoon with our 2 Compassion boys, Jose and Alexander.

It was unbelievable!

Despite the language barrier our boys became fast friends with the two little boys we’ve been praying over for months/years now.

They swam and ran and ate and laughed. And my heart could have exploded.

Then we hugged goodbye, and they left. And my heart could have broken.

I don’t know what I’ve learned today. Still processing it all. Still staying close to the boys as they process it. Still praying and thanking and just saying, “God, keep messing with us. You are our safe place.”

Maybe practically I’d beg you to support a Compassion kid. Then go meet them. It could be life changing. Definitely perspective changing.

Y’all, why wouldn’t we…He gave…how can we not…more and more and more?

“Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh?” (Isaiah 58:7 ESV)
